First big party for Boo

What a busy 2 weeks, get Boo back to school then start party preparations.

On Sunday Boo turned 6 and being born on the 27 he wanted a Halloween party. At first I said he was too little and we did not want to scare his little class mates but as he had been asking for 2 birthdays eventually I gave in, after all I have a soft spot for Halloween being born the day after.

This post will only show some of the party as most of the pictures are on the real camera, not the iPad.

Piñata, made a bit too strong, all 30 kids got a few hits and a few turns, in the end a baseball bat was used to break it, eventually.

Birthday cake, butter cake and butter icing, decorated with bought eyes and black candy chocolate.

Painted a paper mashay pumpkin and witches hat, the hat is actually dark purple and there is shading on the pumpkin but no photos I have taken have been that good yet.

2 buntings this one finished was about 6 meters and the other about 10. Hopefully the camera has some good photos of them up.

I covered 2 foam wreaths in fabric to decorate but could not decide on decorations, so they are part done for another year or project

This one is made of wood, painted black then eyes stuck on with Modge podge, thinking of putting a spider web in the middle or a witch

My man made and I painted a coffin for my brothers Halloween display on Thursday night ( when I will get a better photo )

Found shadow pictures on computer of a witch and cats, that my man cut out of wood then I painted.

Glossed a folk art plate that was made years ago and never finished.

Also made food wise Mummy dogs and pop cake monsters ( picture of 1 lonely one that did not get eaten )

And I think that was it but I'm really not sure

Sourdough bread

9 days ago I started my journey with starting a Sourdough starter

Here is my starter on it's 3rd feed

Raising nicely and doubling it's volume in 2:30 hours

Today I deemed it ready and made my first loaf of bread

Before the kneading, decided to use plain and wholemeal flour this time. The aim is to eventually made Spelt sourdough bread.

Ready for it's first raise.

Forgot to take between photo's, next time will hopefully do better, still getting use to this Blogging thing.

Fresh from the oven

Sliced while steaming hot.

Butted a piece straight away just for me, Boo wanted to try a bite and promptly stole it, Mmmmmmm, at least I now know he will eat it. Cool, he can have a sourdough sandwich for school tomorrow.

Now what flavour will I try tomorrow ?

p.s. Boo goes back to school tomorrow, so will be able to get my hands on the iPad more often and have it charged, to do some posts. Yippee, can not wait, shame about all the house work that comes from school holidays.

Olive oil soap factory

Vasse Virgin as it is now known.

On our way home for down South, we popped into Vasse Virgin. Well worth a visit and the drive through tree lined, narrow country roads

Look at the wonderful display that greats you when you enter the door.........

So many different soaps, liquid hand soaps, cleansers, scrubs and moisturisers. I was in heaven.

There was even a range just for the little ones

To the left of the soap display, there was signs telling you their story.

And a dropped floor where you could watch them make their products. Soap cutting was happening today.

Behind the soap display and around a corner was the olives and olive oils

As I had spent in the first bit I was very good here and bought nothing. My hairdresser has since told me that they are the best olives, ever. Bummer should not have been good. Next time.

A picture of the goodies that I brought home.

Gardening hand cleaner, scrub and balm. Very needed with the amount of gardening I need to do this spring and then be able to crochet at night, if I'm not too tired.

Face cleanser, scrub, serum, moisterizer and lip sticks ( yes there was 2 but apparently Boo ate the chocolate one while I was driving)

A stack of soap + 1 more that I had to have (far right in group picture)

And that was our trip to Vasse Virgin.

Garden find

Look what we just found in the garden

A bird nest, fallen from a tree

So very fragile

Poor Mummy bird, losing her nest.
